Suzaku will bring three unique attributes to this campaign: the ability to describe the 0.5-3 keV spectrum (crucial for describing the disk spectrum), high spectral resolution in the Fe line region (crucial for resolving narrow from relativistically broadened features), and the 200-600 keV spectrum (crucial for distinguishing among thermal corona, non-thermal corona, and jet models). By coordinating with our ongoing monitoring program, we not only obtain useful cross-calibration information, we will be able to place current and future Suzaku observations of Cyg X-1 in the context of the source's global history.
