Especially we will determine the evolution of the hydrogen absorption column over the orbit and test whether signatures of the tidal wake observed with RXTE can be confirmed. The variable Fe line complex will be studied. The cyclotron resonance scattering feature of Cen X-3 at ~30 keV is especially well suited to test new physical models describing phase-resolved line profiles, since it is very variable over the pulse, with the line centroid spanning an energy range from 28 to 39 keV.
