NICER observation list: Target ID 256001

Abstract

Our plan is to detect for the first time with a high-sensitive instrument a thermonuclear X-ray burst from the nearby ultracompact X-ray binary 4U 1812-12, from which it is known that all bursts are Eddington-limited and have a high level of convection to dredge up heavy ashes, and search for absorption edges in the burst spectrum. As a bonus, we can search for burst oscillations for the first time in this persistent burster.
