Such a spectral feature can be induced by non-thermal electrons in the impulsive flare phase, or by X-rays of the very hot flare plasma. The hard X-ray detectors will be used to detect non-thermal bremsstrahlung expected when a beam of non-thermal electrons (typically observed in the radio) impacts the dense chromosphere. We will also study the coronal element composition and its temporal evolution during the flare. Finally, we will attempt coordination with the Australian Telescope to monitor the non-thermal electron population, without any timing constraint for Suzaku.
