The good energy resolution and low background of the XIS instrument is crucial for this study, and we can perform the first reliable measurement of O distribution around elliptical galaxies. Comparison of O and Fe abundance profiles will tell us how metals produced by type Ia and II supernovae have been enriched in the intergalactic space.
