These measurements are crucial for an accurate determination of the gas mass profile and gas fraction, for probing the entropy profile near the region where the accretion shocks start to be important, and for exploring the chemical enrichment at a spatial scale which retains information of early SNII and SNIa enrichment. Due to their brightness, regularity and low temperature, the two objects are ideal candidates for an offset observation of their peripheral gas by Suzaku, making an excellent use of its low background and soft X-ray sensitivity.
