****************************************************** PR # 11010 It is very important to observe star forming region in the hard X-ray band because the hard X-ray is transparent even in dark clouds. The Chamaeleon clouds are suitable for X-ray study of pre main sequence stars because of their proximity (about 140pc) and relative small size. Main purpose of mapping observations of the cloud is to make clear the mechanism of star formation and star evolution. Scientific objectives are summarized as follows. 1) Search for pre main sequence stars embedded deeply in the cloud. 2) Determination of the spectral parameters (temperature, abundance). 3) When do the X-ray activities start? X-ray activities is connected with their surface magnetic activities. ******************************************************
