****************************************************** PR # 11027 It has long been a matter of debate why the soft X-ray luminosity far exceeds the hard X-ray luminosity in Magnetic Catalysmic Variables (MCVs), although the soft X-ray is considered to be emitted as a reprocessed emission of the hard X-ray emission. Since the hard X-ray luminosity of the sources which are doubted to have excessive soft X- ray emission is so low in general that the hard X-ray luminosity has been measured only for the small number of sources, which prevents quantitative analysis of the soft X-ray excess problem.Using the high sensitivity and wide energy band of ASCA, we propose to observe MCVs which probably have excessive soft X-ray emission. In order to obtain soft X-ray information, we have also been planning simultaneous observations with other energy ******************************************************
