****************************************************** PR # 11073 The broadband response of Asca XRT offers us the first chance to search for hard X radiation that may originate in the nuclear region of nearby spiral galaxies. If detected, such radiation could be the most secure basis for the presence of hidden AGN, especially in cases where evidence from other bands is ambiguous.Since low luminosity AGN are likely to have absorbed X ray spectra, existing surveys with Einstein and ROSAT are not suitable. The spatial and energy resolution of Asca are quite adequate for conducting a limited search using selected spiral at distances up to 30 Mpc. In obtaining candidate objects, we have made use of suggestive information, especially in the radio band. The goals of this project are better understandings of AGN and its contribution to CXB. ******************************************************
