****************************************************** PR # 11179 We propose to observe a sample of clusters containing the most massive cooling flows within redshift 0.1. ASCA observations will resolve the cooling flow and enable us to measure the spectrum of the cooling gas, determine metallicities,unambiguosly measure any excess absorption present in the cluster core and examine the gravitational work done on the gas as it cools. Spectra from the outer regions of the cluster will measure the gas temperature and permit a determina- tion of the total gravitational masses out to 3 Mpc. ******************************************************
