****************************************************** PR # 12018 We propose ASCA spectra for three clusters of galaxies with evidence for cooling flows and excess soft X-ray absorption.The principle aim is to determine the physical state and ultimate repository of the~300 Msun/yr of gas cooling in these systems.We will use emission line dia gnostics to determine the amount and spatial distribution of the cool ing material, and the density distribution of inhomogeneities.The pre sence of the excess soft X--ray absorption will be verified,and we wi ll determine if it is intrinsic to the cluster or in the foreground. The spatial distribution of this cold material will be determined.We will also determine overall cluster properties,such as the gas temper ature and density profiles,the amount & distribution of dark matter, and the variation of abundance ******************************************************
