****************************************************** PR # 12054 We propose to use high signal to noise ASCA SIS observations of six early B stars and one very late O star to constrain detailed models of X-ray production and attenuation by the overlying stellar winds. We will consider several different models of X-ray production and will fit multicomponent empirical models to the ASCA data. The sample stars were chosen because they exhibit properties which standard radi ation driven wind and wind shock models have an especially difficult time explaining. These properties includelarge emission measures and high temperatures. The sample includes two betacephei variables and one possible Be star.We have EUVE observations for three of the seven sample stars which we intend to use in conjunction with the ASCA spectra to constrain the model ******************************************************
