****************************************************** PR # 12146 The periodic nature of the dips observed in several LMXRB, combined with their energy dependence, indicate that they are caused by oscura tion of the X-ray source by thickened region at the outer edge of the disk. Previous study show a soft excess during the dip which can not be explained with a cold absorber model. We propose to observe 4U1624 -69, the big dipper, through an orbital cycle (21 hours) covering one 6 hours duration dip. Studying with ASCA intensity selected spectra during the dip will give for the first time the possibility to test the different models proposed to explain the low energy excess during the dip. ******************************************************
