****************************************************** PR # 12164 The unusual morphology of the supernova remnant VRO 42.05.01 (G166.0 +4.3)suggests that it has broken through the edge of the cloud of warm gas in which it was formed to re-energize a hot interstellar tunnel. Our ROSAT data have provided new information on the remnant's thermal state which has permitted us to obtain more accurate super- nova explosion parameters. Asuka SIS observations of this remnant are now needed to directly measure line fluxes and determine abundances in the remnant. This object is ideally matched to the SIS character- istics, since interstellar absorption cuts off its spectrum below about0.6 keV and its angular size (about 30') takes full advantage of the angular resolution of the SIS instrument. ******************************************************
