    Despite intensive study,the nature of LINER activity remains poorly
    understood.Recent x-ray results suggest that some LINERs may contain
    faint AGN,but may differ from more luminous AGN in the nature of the
    accretion.We propose ASCA observs. of two AGN-like LINERs in order to
    1)determine at high S/N the broad band x-ray spectral form for compar
    ison with low luminosity Seyfert galaxies, 2) search for Fe emission
    lines and other signs of cold material, 3) search for variability at
    energies above 2kev and 4) spectrally and spatially separate the act-
    ive nucleus from the surrounding host galaxy. The targets are among
    the x-ray brightest LINERs,and their ASCA fluxes will be sufficient
    to obtain tight limits on the spectral shape and strengths of any
   soft excesses or spectral feat
