****************************************************** PR # 12241 We propose to observe Fe K line profiles in three X-ray selected Sey- fert 2 galaxies (or NELG's; of which there are none in the PV phase) in order to determine whether the lines are narrow (FWHM a few x 10^3 km/s),broad(FWHM a few x 10^4 km/s),or a combination of both.Already, the Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC 4151 has shown a strong narrow Fe K line and possible broad component. These Seyferts are 3 of the 10 brightest AGN in Fe K line emission and thus give the best opportunity to resolve line profiles. ASCA will also provide medium resolution data of the soft X-ray excess components known to exist in these objects. If the excesses are dominated by Fe L line emission then both Fe L & K energ ies and flux ratios will measure the state and distribution of the matter near Seyfert nuclei. ******************************************************
