   Einstein observatory has detected 108 or more sources in the M31
   field(including one foreground source) with luminosities ranging
   between10^36 to 10^39 erg/sec. About a half of the sources are
   clustered inthe central 7 arc min region, and are difficult to be
   spaciallyresolved with ASCA. Purpose of ASCA observations is first to
   studythe properties of each point source, second to search for
   possiblediffuse emission by looking for line emissions. It is expected
   to get100 photons/10ksec from a single side of SIS for a source
   withluminosity 10^37 erg/sec.
