****************************************************** PR # 2 Kes 73 is an anomalous SNR in that it has a very bright central point source inX-rays, but absolutely no evidence in high resolution radio maps of anythingother than a quiescent shell. The principal calibration use is to testdeconvolution algorithms on a bright point source surrounded by faint diffuseemission (with a very different spectrum). Scientific goals are 1)to establishfrom absorption measurements whether or not the diffuse remnant and point sourceare at the same distance 2)to measure the temperature and, thus, constrain theremnant age, and 3)to measure the spectrum of the point source, search forvariability and/or pulsations, and thus classify it as an accretion-poweredbinary, a rotation-powered pulsar, or a compact synchrotron nebula. ******************************************************
