****************************************************** PR # 21024 RE0751+14, is the most important magnetic cataclysmic variables (CV) discovered for many years.Whilst undeniably an intermediate polar(IP) , it exhibits many properties characteristic of the strongly magnetic AM Her stars. As, potentially, the first example of the long sought- after progenitors of the AM Her stars, it is of crucial importance to our understanding of the evolution and magnetic field distribution in the magnetic CVs. ROSAT and GINGA observations of RE0751+14 reveal complicated light curves and spectra. Using ASCA, we propse to secure modestly phase-resolved, diagnostically powerful 0.5-10~keV X-ray spectroscopy of RE0751+14 to pin down the nature and origin of the spectral components and to examine the contribution of absorbing media in this important binar ******************************************************
