****************************************************** PR # 21032 This is the second in the series of proposals to sample over the entire 162-d precession phases of SS 433 in four years. The PV and AO-1 observations by ASCA demonstrated its capability to resolve the emission lines from the two jets with relativistic velocities. They also revealed the emission lines from various elements(Si,S,Ar, ...). With the observations at diffent pressssion and binary phases, we plan to map the spatial distribution of the temperature and density of the hot plasma in the jets. This is the essential information to understand the acceleration and energetics of the jet. The PV and AO-1 phase covered the phase 0.98 -- 0.26. In AO-2, we propose to cover phases ~0.4--0.5. ******************************************************
