   PR # 21502
    We propose to observe, for 20ks each, 5 X-ray bright W UMa-type      
    binary systems.  Our goal is to obtain high-quality spectra for      
    modelling of the coronal structures.  ASCA is currently the only     
    X-ray observatory that can investigate simultaneously both the "hard"
    (T of order 5 to 10 keV) component and the lower temperature (T of   
    order 0.5 keV) emission. The proposed observations willextend the    
    contact-binary survey started by the presentinvestigators in ASCA    
    AO-1.
