****************************************************** PR # 21511 We propose 20000 second observations of the peculiar dipping LMXB X1755-338 and the dipping/bursting LMXB X1323-619. The high spectral resolution and low background of ASCA will let us study the chemical composition and ionization state of matter far better than has yet been possible. In X1755-338, for example, we will be able to probe for an iron K-alpha line down to an equivalent width of ~8 eV (five times better than the current limit) and thereby directly test the White et al (1984) metal deficient model of this system. We will search for relativistic line splitting, broadening, and shifting and will use X1323-619 to test type I burst models. ******************************************************
