****************************************************** PR # 21512 The ~100 eV EW Fe K-line revealed with the EXOSAT GSPC from the low mass X-ray binary 4U1958+11 is characterised by the second highest value of the centroid energy (7.06+/-0.09 keV). This is marginally consistent with emission from H-like iron ions and likely requires a substantial blueshift. We propose a 40 ks ASCA observation of 4U1957+11 the main objective of which is to accurately measure the centroid energy of the Fe-line and set tighter constraints on the line width (or possibly measure it). This can provide important clues on the line emission process, the source geometry and the dynamics of the plasma motion in the vicinity of the accreting collapsed star. ******************************************************
