****************************************************** PR # 21518 A low surface brightness, extended, soft x-ray source has been recently discovered with the ROSAT satellite. While we believe the most likely explanation is that the object is a previously uncata- logued Galactic supernova remnant, the excellent spectral response of ASCA will clearly identify the nature of the x-ray emission and enable the analysis of the numerous hot-spots which appear to be embedded in the wider x-ray halo. We request two 30 ks observations to investigate the spectral nature of the full object and to examine the variability of the hot-spots, one of which appears to have a considerably harder spectrum. ******************************************************
