****************************************************** PR # 22005 We propose to obtain ASCA X-ray coronal spectroscopy of a small sample of single, G0-5 V stars selected as proxies for the Sun at earlier stages of its post-ZAMS lifetime. The stars selected: HD 129333, kappa-1 Cet, HN Peg, HD 1835, and beta Com are nearby and well studied at other wavelengths. They have ages and rotation periods ranging from 70 Myr/per.=2.7d to 2 Gyr/per.=12.4d. ASCA observations will reveal details of the evolution of solar coronal temperature and X-ray energy distribution up to 10 keV as the dynamo runs down. They will be supported by UBVRI and IUE observations, and when possible with VLA observations. These observations will permit the most detailed examination of the early Sun's magnetic activity and atmosphere from the photos ******************************************************
