****************************************************** PR # 22038 The boundary layer in the accretion disk of cataclysmic variables has long been theorized but seldom directly observed. We propose to observe the deep-eclipsing, X-ray bright, non-magnetic CV EC1931-5915 to search for the source of the X-rays. This search will consist of a detailed examination of the crude, time-resolved spectra we will obtain as well as an analysis of the phase-resolved emission line light curves. The light curves will track the behavior of those lines making the largest contribution to the emission measure at a particu- lar energy. The combination of the spectra and the light curves will constrain the location of the emitting region, test whether all of the emission arises from the same location, and provide clues to the temperature regime the emittin ******************************************************
