****************************************************** PR # 22070 We propose to observe the 17.1-hr. low mass X-ray binary, X2127+119/AC211, located near the center of the globular cluster M15 with ASCA. We will use the resolution and sensitivity of the ASCA SIS to: 1) study the continuum emission; 2) derive the metal abundance of the accreting material; 3) measure changes in column density as a function of binary phase; 4) measure any line emission if present; & 5) search for correlated optical variability. These measurements will provide constraints on the source geometry, and the dynamics of the accreting matter and mass loss from the system, that to date have mostly been achieved through optical observations. ******************************************************
