****************************************************** PR # 22089 The center-filled SNR G74.9+1.2 (CTB 87) is a known x-ray source (1E2014.1+3702) that resides within the error circle of an unidentified EGRET source GRO J2018+37 in Cygnus. Its Crab-like radio and x-ray properties suggest the existence of a young pulsar in the nebula so it is a strong candidate for J2018. This object has a fairly hard x-ray spectrum but only moderate flux. Previous x-ray and radio data are not adequate for pulsation detection. The ASCA's broad energy range and high sensitivity are ideal for a pulsar search in G74.9+1.2. We propose a 60 ks observation. An unidentified compact radio source in the FOV is also a potentially rewarding target. ******************************************************
