****************************************************** PR # 22182 We propose ASCA spectra for three clusters of galaxies with evidence for cooling flows and excess soft X-ray absorption. The principle aim is to determine the physical state and ultimate repository of the ~300 Msun/yr of gas cooling in these systems. We will use emission line diagnostics to derive the amount and spatial distribution of the cooling material, and the density distribution of inhomogeneities. The presence of the excess soft X--ray absorption will be verified, and we will determine if it is intrinsic to the cluster or in the foreground. The spatial distribution of this cold material will be derived. We will also determine overall cluster properties, such as the gas temperature and density profiles, the amount and distribution of dark matter, and the variat ******************************************************
