    We propose to measure the gas temperatures for the X-ray luminous    
    clusters of galaxies MS0440+0204 and MS0302+1658, which contain      
    gravitationally lensed arc systems. The ASCA data will allow us to   
    determine the mass of the emitting plasma to be compared with the    
    lensing mass that will be derived from high resolution optical data. 
    This measurement will set an important constraint on the dark matter 
    in clusters of galaxies
