****************************************************** PR # 31038 RX J1940.2-1025, recently discovered to be the source responsible for the periodic signals previously associated with NGC 6814, is now kn own to be an AM Her system. Optical observations and a re-evaluation of earlier X-ray data have shown that this object has a number of u nusual features. We propose detailed observations of RX J1940.2-1025 with ASCA in order to: (i) study the prominent dips present in its X-ray (and optical) light curve (thought to be due to absorption in the accretion stream); (ii) understand the accretion geometry of RX J1940.2-1025 through phase-resolved spectroscopy; (iii) investigate long-term changes in the X-ray light curve (related to RX J1940.2-102 5 being slightly asynchronous) and (iv) perform the first detailed st udy of the hard X-ray componen ******************************************************
