****************************************************** PR # 31043 Terzan 5 is a massive globular cluster which has a dense core. There seem to exist a number of rotation-powered pulsars (RPPs) for its dif fuse radio emission with steep spectrum. There also exists a LMXB in or near the cluster, which is thought to be highly variable and stron gly absorbed. The primary aim of this proposal is to confirm if the L MXB(s) belong(s) to Terzan 5 or not. Adding to the number of LMXBs in globular clusters is very important to estimate their precise contri bution to the formation of RPPs. There is also a probability that the LMXB and the eclipsing millisecond pulsar PSR 1744-24A are identical . PSR 1744-24A may be an object switching between a millisecond pulsa r and a LMXB. ******************************************************
