     We propose observations of the black hole candidates (BHCs)  LMC X-1        
     and LMC X-3.  These observations would be coordinated  with pointed C       
     GRO/OSSE Gamma-ray (50 keV - 1 MeV) studies of  these objects, for wh       
     ich we already have been granted over  4 weeks of time.  The excellen       
     t energy resolution of ASCA, combined with Gamma-ray spectral data fr       
     om OSSE and X-ray and  Gamma-ray timing, will allow us to sensitively       
      probe the inner  accretion disk and corona.  We will thus be able to       
      place  significant constraints on theories of accretion and spectral
