****************************************************** PR # 31057 Recently ROSAT and ASCA detected several soft and ultra-soft transien t X-ray sources in quiescence with luminosities near 1x10^33 erg/sec. These observations suggest that the X-ray spectrum is very soft, whi ch is not a simple extrapolation of the energy spectra in the bright states. In order to extend our knowledge on X-ray emission in quiesc ence, we propose to observe two soft transient sources; 4U2129+47 (a partial eclipsing binary) and Aql X-1. From detection/non-detection of partial eclipses and the X-ray energy spectrum of 4U2129+47, we ca n constrain the size and location of the emission region. For Aql X-1 , we would like to study whether there is a second hard component or not. Such a hard component, if it exists, may have a connection to t he X-ray emission in the brigh ******************************************************
