****************************************************** PR # 31070 With its spin period of 1.877 ms, PSR J0034-0534 is the third fastest pulsar known. Its orbital period is also relatively short at 1.6 day s. The magnetic field is the smallest magnetic field strength 1.1*10* *8 G yet recorded for any pulsar. These properties are similar with t he binary millisecond pulsar PSR 1957+20, in which the detected X-ray emission is presumed to come from the ablation of the companion by a wind from the pulsar. In the binary millisecond pulsar PSR J0034-053 4, the X-ray emission is also expected from the shocks of the pulsar wind at the companion. Main object is to detect the X-ray emission an d confirm the albation of the low-mass companion. ******************************************************
