****************************************************** PR # 31157 We propose observations of the ultraluminous IRAS galaxies IRAS 0023 5+1024 and IRAS 23060+0505 to search for hidden AGN and advance Seyf ert/quasar/ultraluminous IRAS galaxy unification. Both objects have luminosities characteristic of quasars and show evidence for obscur ing material. They may have fluorescent line emission which would in dicate the reprocessing of X-rays from a central AGN. IRAS 00235+102 4 was recently discovered to be the third most luminous IRAS galaxy k nown during a Cambridge APM machine systematic survey. IRAS 23060+05 05 is both nearby and powerful so we should be able to probe it in de tail. ******************************************************
