****************************************************** PR # 31165 3C279 is a typical OVV quasar with high variability in radio through GeV-gamma-ray, and the brightest GeV-gamma-ray AGN. The property in r adio to X-rays will strongly support the SSC model. However, bright G eV-gamma-ray flux by CGRO cannot be explained by this model. The rese arch of GeV-gamma-ray emission mechanism unknown is expected to lead the evidence of blazar activity, like as jets and relativistic electr on production. Recently the re-brightening at visible band was report ed. We would expect return of the X-ray/Gamma-ray activity, and would propose here the long term X-ray monitoring of 3C279 simultaneously with CGRO, IUE and HST in order to establish the emission mechanism o f GeV-gamma-ray. ******************************************************
