****************************************************** PR # 31198 IRAS 20181-2244 is the second narrow-line quasar. The previously kn own one, 1E0449-184, was observed with ASCA, and provided a puzzling results. In contrast to narrow-line Seyferts (i.e. Seyfert2s), 1E04 49-184 shows no evidence for strong absorption. Whether 1E0449-184 i s particular among narrow-line quasars is a interesting question(thou gh there is only two samples) . Measurements of absorption in IRAS 2 0181-2244 is a first step toward the answer. Was49 is a interacting system of galaxies having two nucleus, one of which is expected to hi de a quasar nucleus at the center. The property resembles that of Mk n 463E in which thick absorbing column have been discovered with ASCA . We expect ASCA observations of Was49 provides a hint as to formatio ns of extremly thick absorbing ******************************************************
