****************************************************** PR # 31202 We propose to use ASCA to observe the brightest radio quiet QSO at r edshift greater than 1 to search for the reflection signatures, an iron line and reflection hump, present in lower luminosity, nearby A GN. Previous observations of two very bright PG quasars have shown n o such features. The implications of this result are wide-ranging. F or example, no molecular obscuring torus can be present in these obj ects, nor can a `standard' accretion disc. These observations will i nvestiage the real differences between Seyferts and QSO to test evol utionary theories. ******************************************************
