     We propose to observe, for 40ks, the X-ray bright W UMa A-type binary       
      system V566 Oph. Our goal is to obtain high-quality spectra for mode       
     lling of the coronal structures. ASCA is currently the only X-ray obs       
     ervatory that can investigate simultaneously both the `hard' (T of or       
     der 5 to 10 keV) component and the lower temperature (T of order 0.5        
     keV) emission. The proposed observation will extend, to A-type system       
     s, the contact-binary survey (of W-type systems) conducted by the pre
