       We propose to obtain accurate spectral parameters for 4 early type        
     galaxies with different x-ray luminosities and x-ray to optical ratio       
     s X/B. These observations will provide us with high quality x-ray spe       
     ctra and will allow us to separate the different components that are        
     the signature of different emission mechanisms contributing to the ov       
     erall x-ray emission of early type galaxies. With an estimate of the        
     relative contribution of hot gaseous emission relative to the contrib       
     ution from individual stellar sources we will be able to put some con       
     strains to theoretical scenarios that explain the large scatter obser
