     ASCA observations as part of a simultaneous multiwavelength campaign        
     on the gamma-blazar PKS 0528+134 are proposed.  PKS 0528+134 will be        
     observed for 3 weeks by the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory (CGRO) duri       
     ng cycle 4 of its mission.  Contemporaneous observations in the soft        
     X-ray range (ROSAT-HRI), in radio- and optical bands will be carried        
     out, and it is hoped to achieve simultaneous coverage in further wave       
     length regions as well. Contemporaneous broadband studies are the onl       
     y tool to discriminate between different blazar emission models and p       
     roceed in understanding the origin of hte continuum emission of blaza       
     rs.  The proposed ASCA observations would cover the crucial X-ray par       
     t of this multiwavelength campaign.
