     The IR quasar IRAS 13349+2438 turned out to be an usually bright  sou       
     rce in the ROSAT All sky survey with a complex soft x-ray spectrum Du       
     e to its distinct properties the source is considered as an  importan       
     t link between various AGN classes.  An ASCA observation of 20 ksec w       
     ill allow to determine the shape of the ME continuum of the source an       
     d thus to disentangle the role of reflection- or reprocessed componen       
     ts.  This will enable us to understand the central emission region of       
      this unusual source and thus to get vital insights into the physical       
      properties of this class of objects so far poorly studied in the X-r
