****************************************************** PR # 31540 As part of a long-term theoretical and observational study aiming at determining the processes shaping the soft X-ray to gamma-ray spectr a of AGNs we intended to observe four Seyferts, Mrk 478, E1615+061, NGC 3227, and NGC 7172 to supplement existing data samples. The high resolution capabilities of ASCA allows the best determination so fa r of the 0.1-10 keV spectrum. In particular, ASCA has already been ab le to resolve reflected Fe-line into neutral H-like, and He-like com ponents, resolve other reflected soft X-ray K-lines, and to resolve the complex absorption due to warm absorbers. This allows a much more accurate determination of the various spectral components. ESA reco mmended 20 ks for NGC 7172, a Seyfert 2 whose Ginga spectrum shows st rong photoelectric absorption. ******************************************************
