     We propose a 40 ks observation of the cluster A119 which shows extens       
     ive substructure in both its galaxy and gas distributions. This clust       
     er is a very strong candidate for a merger of two  subclusters. An AS       
     CA observation will yield accurate measurements of the gas temperatur       
     e, ddensity and metal abundance distributions and thus provide us wit       
     h an excellent opportunity to study the very early stages of a merger
