****************************************************** PR # 32021 We will observe the X-ray bright ($L_X \sim$ 0.6--1.3 $\times$ 10$^{30}$ erg s$^{-1}$) Hyades giants $\theta^1$ and $\gamma$ Tau with ASCA. SIS spectra of these two stars will provide important constraints on the coronal abundances of Fe, Mg, S and Si. Because the Hyades giants have well determined photospheric abundances, this will allow us to investigate whether the coronal/photospheric abundance anomalies seen in the Sun also occur in stars with significantly different ages and structure. We will also compare our results with previously reported abundance anomalies in ASCA observations of the giant $\beta$ Cet (Drake et al. 1994) to see if such coronal abundances are typical of active giants. ******************************************************
