****************************************************** PR # 32027 Hybrid-chromosphere stars provide important clues to the mechanisms that power and control stellar activity and outer atmospheric structure. $\alpha$ TrA is the brightest hybrid star in the X-ray region and has shown considerable flaring and low level variability in ROSAT observations. We propose to use the ASCA X-ray spectrum of $\alpha$ TrA (K2 IIb-IIIa) to determine its coronal temperature and emission measure distributions and to investigate the temporal variability of these distributions. Outer atmospheric models of its coronal and transition region plasma from emission measure analysis and magnetic loop modelling will be used to investigate the energy budget and likely coronal magnetic field. ******************************************************
