****************************************************** PR # 32197 The hard X-ray properties of Seyfert 2 galaxies are an important key to progress in understanding the difference between Seyfert 1 and Seyfert 2 galaxies. Models which unify these classes in terms of anisotropic obscuration and viewing geometry can be tested with hard X-ray spectra. Intrinsic differences can be discovered. In this proposal, we address the failure of previous X-ray studies to test whether or not any ``true'' Seyfert 2 galaxies exist. Unfortunate se lection of targets biased the $Ginga$ observations toward objects th at had already been certified as hidden Seyfert 1s by detection of br oad emission lines in polarized flux. We propose more sensitive ob servations of Seyfert 2s which have as yet $no$ evidence for broad em ission-line regions, thus test ******************************************************
