****************************************************** PR # 32207 We propose to observe B1422+231, a high redshift (z=3.62) radio-loud quasar which is gravitationally lensed. The lensed images are all within a radius of 1 arcsec and extremely bright: the integrated r magnitude is 15.25. B1422+231 thus provides a unique opportunity to observe a relatively low luminosity quasar at high redshift, in contrast to the extremely luminous objects previously studied. This will allow a direct comparison to the extensively studied X-ray properties of $``$typical" quasars at low redshifts. B1422+231 will be the highest redshift quasar observed by ASCA. The data obtained will be the highest S/N spectrum of any z$>$3 quasar. ******************************************************
