****************************************************** PR # 32224 We propose to observe the radio galaxy PKS2152-69, for which extensive optical/UV observations have revealed a strongly anisotropic radiation field. According to the unified scheme, this radio galaxy seen end-on would be a luminous blazar-like quasar; edge-on, much of the blazar continuum is not seen either because it is absorbed in a circumnuclear torus or it is relativistically beamed. Since the torus becomes transparent and the AGN component dominates at hard X-ray energies, ASCA is ideally suited to detect the hidden blazar in PKS2152-69. It should appear as a variable power law above $\sim 2$ keV, with a very strong iron line and nonthermal soft X-ray emission if the torus causes the anisotropy, or a very weak iron line if the anisotro ******************************************************
